#ONEWORD

8 Weeks of Deliver

Well, I’m two months into my #oneword year of “DELIVER.” I’m not killing it yet. If you recall, my year of “Deliver” is about doing more and thinking less. Granted, “less” for me is still probably more than most people can imagine. In essence, I’m challenging myself this year to put my faith, ideas, and plans into action. I’m taking big leaps into the execution stage. It’s time to “do stuff.”

God has stuff for us to do that he planned a long time ago. That’s Ephesians 2:10. #readyourbible Whew! If you can really get that in your heart, it takes away a lot of the pressure to deliver. Basically, these are God’s deliverables that we’ve been asked to carry. While Ephesian 2:10 is my overarching scripture for the year, I find myself leaning into 2 Corinthians 9:10 daily. It reminds me that God provides the seeds and the bread. That’s great but also…

There’s a lot of work to do between seed planting and harvesting wheat for bread. That’s our part of the deal. My great grandmother used to tell us, “It will not rain down things to eat, if you want bread then plant some wheat.” That was wisdom I refused to embrace.

“But what about manna from heaven?” I’d ask.

She would simply respond, “When you get hungry enough, you’ll start plowing.”

I finally got hungry enough to plow. God gives us dreams, goals, and ideas in our hearts. That’s Psalm 37:4. After that we’ve got to put in the work to plant those seeds, fertilize the soil, pull the weeds, keep the pests away, etc. On the other side of our efforts is guaranteed bread from those seeds, but we’ve got to do the work.

What I’ve Delivered

Eight weeks in, I’ve delivered on some things. The “Off the Bluffs” podcast has launched and it has allowed me to produce a lil’ bit of positive content in the world. The audiobook for “Toyi Elizabeth” has launched on audible. I’m so happy to hear how much it’s helping you lean into God’s grace. I’m updating the blog, and the newsletter is still going out monthly with special editions for events and announcements. I have a few other opportunities on my desk that will contribute immensely to my “Deliver” year.

You can Deliver

Living out the plan God has given you takes “intention.” You’ve got to “believe” you can do it. You’ll have to say “no” to some people and things along the way in order to make a noticeable “impact” and hold yourself “accountable.” Stay focused and “reject” anything that has not been given to you by God.

The words above in quotation are the words my clients have chosen for the year. Having a focus word helps me a lot. It helps my family, friends, and clients, too. It’s not too late to choose a word that will help you harvest the seeds you’ve been given. If you need help,  Check out the ONE WORD Coaching Program.

I’ve had a lot of personal and professional success with using #oneword each year, but most importantly I grow closer to God in the process. In my year of “Deliver” I depend on God to give me the seeds and I trust God to bring the bread. In doing so, God and I become better friends. I don’t just understand more about God, I understand and love more about myself. It’s exciting and I cannot wait to see what the rest of the year will bring.
