I’m TOYI ELIZABETH! I‘m a screenwriter, producer, and author. I create books, movies, television, podcasts, and online media content for people who want happy endings, sometimes ironically.
I was born and raised in Appalachia. I’ve lived in seven states across the US from California to Connecticut and traveled extensively around the world. I studied chemistry, pharmacy, and marketing—all because that’s what was expected of me. I spent over a decade at a fortune 50 company and then tried my hand at a fast-paced, boiler room, private equity firm. Both were amazing experiences full of incredible people, but the fire to create still burned inside me.
I wanted something more.
After being a successful global executive, I packed up all my plaques, trophies, and awards and I took the leap to live the dream of running my own company. So in 2008 I created what is now known as THE KAMRYN ADAMS COMPANY.
Since then, I’ve written a few books, hosted podcasts and radio shows, did some lifestyle writing, screenwriting, taught writing, coached writers, and spent a ridiculous amount of time on social media. I’ve published a few books for new authors, ghost-written, punched up dialogue, provided story analysis, worked as a script doctor and basically found a way to do the things that bring me joy.
I’m a self-proclaimed bible nerd who loves word games and strategy puzzles so story structure is exciting to me. I hate to exercise so I live a low-carb, sugar-free life. I can’t stand ratchet reality TV but I try to create the same toxic characters with redemptive growth in my stories. I love movies, reading, beaching, and dancing. I’m a Christian, the kind that reads the bible, prays, and minds my business.
